Somatics as Embodied Feminine Leadership …

More than ever, the world needs courageous feminine leaders who are willing to express a deeper level of truth, vulnerability and authentic presence.

Yet, our research shows that a fundamental lack of safety to speak up and be seen, prevails inside many women’s lived experience today, even though they are highly accomplished contributors and leaders in their field.

The good news is that the solution is closer than we think. While we acknowledge the structural and systemic issues that still hold women back, in our experience, the most effective way to step into leadership is through our own bodies.

What is embodied leadership?

Stressful and traumatic experiences cause a somatic contraction that can become stuck in our body, unresponsive and disconnected from current time experience.

This contraction limits our joy, our feminine presence and our ability to be seen and heard so we can make our full impact as feminine leaders in these times.

To be bold & visible we need to build a platform of somatic safety which leads to freedom of movement, voice and being. Through the process we reintegrate the parts of us that have been frozen and disconnected in our nervous system so that we can be our most whole selves.

The SOMA is a living process through which our sensations, movements, perceptions, emotions and narratives form a whole human experience.

Somatics is an inquiry into knowing ourselves and the world around us by sensing, moving and listening through the body. - Thomas Hanna

The Somatic Transformational Story Method™ helps us to wake up the navigational system of our feminine body and bring our full resources back online so we can transform our embodied narrative, and restore a fundamental sense of belonging to ourselves and others.

Practicing Somatics through a feminine lens introduces an element of receptivity, flow, self-compassion and a safe container to address our most difficult embodied shame-based meanings.

Through our practice we reconnect to our deeper feminine knowing, our sensuality, our heart’s longings and to a deeply embodied source of our own power that has been locked deep in the survival pathways of our body.

A feminine approach to somatics acknowledges the exhaustion and isolation historically experienced by feminine identities in a masculine world that values competition, strategy and logic as the highest priority.

At the same time it seeks to transcend the shared somatic patterns and limiting narratives of collective victimization and blame arising from our wider social context so that we can grow, understand, heal and transform together.

It includes a new level of individual self-responsibility and personal agency to make change as the author of our own life. With this new agency comes a larger responsibility to the whole which can be accomplished when transformational somatic practices are applied both individually and collectively.

Collective witnessing

… is a powerful part of stepping into embodied feminine leadership.

It requires that we come together to share our vulnerability, speak our truth and give witness to what once was shameful and isolated and hidden.

When we support each other in community we can embody a powerful transformation that allows us to transcend outdated structures, behaviours and stories at the individual and the wider societal levels. Now is the time to choose our own story, to design a future guided by our own vision.

Living our lives as Art is the ultimate goal …

Bold & Visible Monologues

We can choose a NEW story that transcends our individual and collective histories. A story that releases old traumas and frees us from embodied patterns of blame, shame and invisibility that hold us back from all we can be.

Sharing our somatic transformational stories on stage at the Bold & Visible Monologues is a threshold through which we step out of the shadows to be seen, heard and embody a greater sense of wholeness and integration as we live our life as ART …

Art is the highest expression of the human spirit. ~ we yearn to transcend the merely finite and ephemeral; through our individual voices, we work to create art that will speak to others who know nothing of us. In our very obliqueness to one another, an unexpected intimacy is born. - Joyce Carol Oats
